New Delhi: Fashion, patriotism and
chocolates rank high on the minds of the Indian Orkut users as
these are among the most talked about subjects on the popular
social networking site, a study said.
The study, conducted by Orkut to understand the usage
pattern in the country, found that communities dedicated to
fashion, India, chocolates and popular cartoon characters Tom
and Jerry were the most "active communities".
"We just did not select communities with the largest
number of users, but also took into account activities such as
page views, debates, polls and posts among others. This is an
indication to what is on the minds of today's youth," Google
India Product Manager Rahul Kulkarni told media.
Other top communities include 'Boys Vs Girls (Who Is the
Best?)', 'India Stock Market (BSE NSE)', 'Tamil Cinema', and
'I hate to wake up early'.
Kulkarni said the website would also share these findings
with the advertisers "who wish to use Orkut as a platform to
reach the youth".
The top advertisers on the website include FMCG,
education, telecom and banking and financial services
companies, whose target audience is the young population in
the country.
