A Spanish diplomat was found dead at his residence in Islamabad on Thursday morning.

Islamabad: A Spanish diplomat, who had been living in Pakistan for 34 long years, was found dead here and police said on Thursday that he may have committed suicide.

Juan José Giner was found dead at his residence in the posh F-7 sector and the room was locked from the inside. A 38 bore pistol was found near the body, The News International reported.

Superintendent Police (SP) City Shaikh Zubair said that a forensic mobile lab had reached the spot and further investigations are underway.

He said that Giner's body had been shifted to Polyclinic hospital and the Spanish consulate had been informed of the incident.

"But we will further investigate the incident," he said.

Giner had been living in Islamabad for 34 years. He had married twice but both his wives had left him, the police said.

His cook, a Pakistani, alerted the police.
