Mumbai: Public sector lender Allahabad Bank
on Thursday reported an eight-fold rise in net profit to Rs 333.59
crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2009.
Total income of the bank rose to Rs 2,451.51 crore in the
latest quarter of the current fiscal from Rs 1,977.19 crore of
the corresponding period last year, Allahabad Bank said in a
filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
During the July-September period, the state-run bank's
interest earning also grew to Rs 2,046.69 crore from Rs
1,845.95 crore of the last financial year.
For the half year ended September, Allahabad Bank posted
a net profit of Rs 636.45 crore, up nearly five-fold, compared
to Rs 135.04 crore of the same period last year.
Shares of Allahabad Bank were trading at Rs 123.75, down
3.36 percent in the afternoon trade on BSE.
