New Delhi: Public sector lender Punjab
National Bank today said it will complete introduction of
centralised banking solution (CBS) in all five sponsored
Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) by the end of June 2010, three
months ahead of schedule.
"One of our RRB has already gone cent per cent CBS and
the remaining RRBs sponsored by the bank would hook to the
platform by the end of June, 2010," Punjab National Bank
Chairman and Manging Director K R Kamath told.
The feat would be achieved three months ahead of the
schedule, that was September 2010, Kamath said.
With the automation, large number of accounts like
National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme, pension
accounts can be processed and meaningful information can be
retrieved to take proper decisions.
PNB, has six RRBs with a network of 1,389 branches spread
across six states. Earlier this week, the bank's first RRB
Haryana Gramin Bank aligned its operation across all 195
branches through centralised banking solution.
With the implementation of CBS, Haryana Gramin Bank has
been able to provide IT-enabled financial inclusion solution
and serve the customers in an effective manner, he said.
Other benefits that CBS will offer include low-cost ATMs
for anytime banking, point of sales terminal transaction and
financial inclusion of unbanked and under-banked people, he
said.
