RBI files complaint against banks for depositing fake notes

Muzaffarnagar (UP): The Reserve Bank of India has lodged police complaint against the branch managers of two nationalised banks here for allegedly accepting and then depositing fake Indian currency in its bank.

According to the complaint filed yesterday by manager of Reserve Bank of India (Kanpur head office) V P Singh, the Muzaffarnagar branches of Punjab National Bank (PNB) and State Bank of Bikaner had deposited fake notes in RBI, police said today.

Ten notes with the face value of Rs 100 and three of Rs 50 were allegedly deposited in RBI by the PNB and State Bank of Bikaner, respectively, the complaint lodged at New Mandi thana stated.
