Bayern suffer Hamburg friendly defeat Munich: Bayern Munich went down to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bundesliga rivals Hamburg in a pre-season tournament in Mainz on Tuesday evening.

Bayern's evening got off to a terrible start, with an error in judgement from goalkeeper Manuel Neuer allowing 19-year-old South Korean Son Heung-Min to put Hamburg in front inside the opening six minutes.

Neuer has had a difficult start to life in Bavaria, with a section of the club's support refusing to accept the signing of a player who is a self-confessed fan of Schalke 04.

The German international did redeem himself with a couple of impressive saves but Son went on to double Hamburg's lead from close-range just before half-time of a game played over two 30-minute periods.

Toni Kroos pulled a goal back for Jupp Heynckes' charges, but Hamburg held on to win and will play Borussia Dortmund in the final of the tournament being played at Mainz's new Coface Arena home on Wednesday.

The reigning Bundesliga champions beat the hosts 1-0 in the tournament's other game, meaning Bayern and Mainz will meet in a play-off for third place.
