Fulham boss Hodgson happy to be linked with Olympic team London: Fulham manager Roy Hodgson, who was named as a possible coach of the British soccer team for the 2012 Olympics last week, said he would be happy to take the job if it was offered to him.

English FA chairman David Triesman, in an interview with Reuters in Monaco on Friday, mentioned the 62-year-old Fulham boss as a possible contender for the part-time job along with England Under-21 coach Stuart Pearce.

"It is very nice to hear my name linked with the 2012 position but I know nothing more," said Hodgson after Fulham's Premier League match at Aston Villa on Sunday.

"The Olympics are a long way off but whoever gets that job, it is going to be an honour. If it came about that people thought I was the right man for the job I'd be happy to take it."

The FA want the coach in place by the end of this year.

Hodgson has vast experience as a coach with spells in charge of Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and Finland as well as leading clubs such as Inter Milan, Blackburn Rovers and Fulham.

The British team at the London Olympics will include only English players after the Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland FAs declined to be involved because of fears over their international autonomy within FIFA.
