Madrid: Real Madrid midfielder Kaka says the most important matter at the moment is for the team to "unite" ahead of the new campaign.
The ex-Milan player was speaking at a press conference ahead of his side's meeting with Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday. Madrid play one more friendly after this, against Rosenborg of Norway, ahead of the new La Liga campaign and Kaka thinks it's time things started to come together.
"What matters is that we unite. We are already seeing signs of unity on the field and that must continue," he said.
"In a few days the competition [La Liga] will tell us what level we are at. For now it is about focusing on complications and understanding what the coach [Manuel Pellegrini] wants us to do."
Madrid begin their league campaign in the Bernabeu against Deportivo La Coruna and Kaka is already pointing to Barcelona as the team to beat.
"The team to beat at the moment is Barcelona, the champions of Europe," he said.
However he is confident that the pre-season work at Madrid will "become clear" when Los Merengues play their first competitive game on August 29.
"We are building a team to compete with Barcelona and also in Europe where there are other competitors, added the Brazilian.
