Scottish Midfielder Alan Gow Joins East Bengal Kolkata: Scotland B international Alan Gow is set to join last season’s I-League runner’s-up East Bengal (EB) after a successful trial with the Kolkata-based club.

Gow, aged 28, joins East Bengal for free as the striker was a free agent after being released by Notts County following six months at the League One club. Gow's move to the Red and Gold outfit, as for now, is provisional and will only go through as soon as some visa issues are concluded.

East Bengal become Gow’s the eighth club in his 11-year football career. The player who had a particularly productive spell at Falkirk has played for Scottish Giants Rangers and England’s Blackpool and Norwich City.

Before spending two seasons with Falkirk, Gow was with hometown club Clydebank and Airdrie United. He moved to Airdrie in 2002 after Clydebank went out of business.

His form for Falkirk, wherein he scored 25 goals in 84 games, led to a move to Rangers, but he failed to become a first-team regular and had loan spells with Blackpool and Norwich City before joining Plymouth Argyle in 2009.

Gow fell out of favour at Plymouth after a managerial change and was loaned to Hibernian, who then released him during the 2010 close season. He then began last season with Motherwell before joining Notts County in January.

After failing to impress with Notts County, he had a successful trial with East Bengal and if all goes fine pertaining to his visa issues, he could be seen playing his trade in the I-League.
