Volcanic ash could dash Barca’s Champions League hopes: Guardiola Barcelona: Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola fears that Iceland’s volcanic ash cloud could wreck his team’s Champions League hopes again.

Barcelona trained in the Nou Camp on Monday, but there is real concern that the ash cloud moving south from Iceland will affect not only Barca’s preparations for Saturday’s final at Wembley, but the prospect of their fans getting to London for the game.

Their preparations for last season’s semi-final against Inter Milan were also hit after the ash cloud from Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano forced most of European airspace to shut down.

“London is further than Milan, we might have to fly to get as near as we can, then drive. We’ll take advice from the experts and see,” The Sun quoted Guardiola, as saying.

“I hope the volcano doesn’t affect the fans who are going there. I hope we can get there, but also our fans. It would make no sense if they can’t get there. I guess they are concerned, like us.”

“This is a show for people and it would be really unfortunate if they can’t be there,” he added.

The Catalans had to drive to Milan for their semi-final first leg last year, which they lost 3-1 before going out on aggregate
