`Want to make players understand style of play`

New Delhi: Newly appointed Indian football coach Armando Colaco is hoping that the practice matches help his players gel and understand the style of play he wants to enforce in due course of time.
Armando expressed his satisfaction after the senior team eked out a 1-0 win over India`s under-23 Olympic team at the Ambedkar stadium here on Tuesday. Debabrata Roy netted the winner from a penalty kick."I am very happy with their performance. The main idea is to make them understand the style of play and these practices matches serve the purpose. We tried almost every player today and it gives us an idea to see which player is suited best in the given position," Armando said. Though it is still early days, Armando said that his boys are up to the task and working hard. "We are working very hard. Emphasis is more on the physical fitness as the guys came from I-League break," said the Goan ahead of his team`s home-and-away World Cup qualifiers against UAE on July 23 and 28. The coach was also happy with the youngsters and is expecting them to learn from the seniors. "I always tell the seniors to guide juniors and the juniors to learn from the seniors. After all it`s a learning process for them and I want them to utilise the conditions very well," he said. "Players like Lalrindika Ralte, Jewel Raja, Raju Gaikwad, Anthony and Jeje are extremely talented and good future prospects." PTI
