Kohima: Re-polling in two polling stations in Zunheboto district and polling in one polling station in Longleng district of Nagaland for the lone Lok Sabha seat of the state concluded peacefully with an overall turnout of 43.74 per cent.
Returning Officer for the Lok Sabha polls in Nagaland, Temjen Toy said that re-polling at the two polling stations under Suruhoto Assembly Constituency under Zunheboto district Akhakhu polling station No. 2 and Naltoqa polling station No. 25 concluded peacefully with no untoward incidents.
The voters turnout of the two polling stations is recorded at 31.25 per cent and 41.37 per cent respectively.
Election Commission had ordered repoll in the two polling stations on May 8 following findings of the scrutiny committee that Akhakhu had cast 44 extra votes, while in Naltoqa, votes of 11 local people, who were on poll duty outside, were fraudulently cast by impostors, the sources said.
Voting for the adjourned poll at Ladaigarh polling station No. 1 under 49-Tamlu A/C in Longleng district was also held peacefully and without any hindrance at a nearby makeshift structure with a voter turnout of 58.61 per cent, he said.
Polling was being conducted at Ladaigarh polling station No 1(one) in Longleng district as people could not cast their votes due to "forcible occupation" of the polling station at Ladaigarh Government LP School allegedly by Assam police on April 9.
Polling was arranged at Piching Nullah area in the village for the day, Returning Officer Temjen Toy said.
