Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Friday dismissed the BJP`s claim that there is a “Narendra Modi wave” in the country and accused it of playing a divisive politics to win the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a press briefing in the Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow, the BSP chief said, “The BJP is creating a false impression that there is a Modi wave in the country. The BJP is desperate to win and has been making false claims. On sensing the ground situation, we can say that even the BJP is not in a strong position.”

The BSP supremo also categorically ruled out extending any support to Modi government in the event of BJP coming to power after polls.

“There is no question of supporting Modi. Seeing poor condition of NDA, Narendra Modi has claimed that he is ready to take support of Tamil Nadu`s Jayalalitha, Mamata Banerjee and others. Mamata, Mulayam or Jayalalithaa may support Modi but the BSP will not support the BJP or Modi to form government at the Center at any cost.” Mayawati said.
The BSP leader also accused the BJP of playing a divisive politics and trying to mislead Muslims just to ensure its victory in polls.

Mayawati had in past also attacked Narendra Modi, saying he has "misguided" the country in the name of development and asked people not to give more chances to BJP and Congress as they have always worked "against" the interests of Dalits, backward class and poor.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister had claimed that the next government at the Centre "cannot be formed" without BSP`s support.
Slamming the BJP`s prime ministerial candidate, Mayawati said: "There is no development in Gujarat, but Modi misguided the people of country in the name of development."

Attacking the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre, she claimed the government is curtailing the backward classes right to reservation "by allotting their share to others. The backlog of government jobs reserved for Dalits and the backwards is increasing day by day."
