Barrackpore (WB): Two offices of CPI(M) were allegedly ransacked after the tearing of poster with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee`s picture at Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district today. Police said trouble broke out when a Trinamool Congress procession was passing by one party office on Barrackpore-Barasat Road and some in the `michhil` objected to the tearing of posters in the morning.
As an altercation ensued, the party office was ransacked by some people. Soon another nearby party office of the Left party was aso damaged, the sources said. The Trinamool denied the charge and said it was the handiwork of a rival faction of the Marxist party. Dinesh Trivedi from TMC, Subhasini Ali from CPI(M) are the main contenders for the industrial-partly rural belt inhabited by a mixed population of migrant labourers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Aam Aadmi Party`s Mihir Biswas and Samrat Topdar from Congress are also in the fray. Election to the seat will be held on May 12.
