High security in Varanasi ahead of Modi visit tomorrow

Security was stepped up today in the temple town ahead of BJP prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi`s first visit as an elected MP of Varanasi here tomorrow.

Varanasi: Security was stepped up today in the temple town ahead of BJP prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi`s first visit as an elected MP of Varanasi here tomorrow.

SP (city) Rahul Raj told PTI that high security arrangements have been put in place in and out of Kashi Vishwanath temple premises and the Dashashwamedh ghat.

Modi would first visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple and then will take part in Ganga Aarti and poojan tomorrow as per the schedule, said Raj.
A special vigil is being kept on the Dashashwamedh ghat which had witnessed a low-intensity bomb blast on December 7, 2010 in which 2 persons were killed and nearly a? dozen persons were injured.
State police, local intelligence unit sleuths , along with Gujarat police officials inspected the Dashashwamedh ghat area today. A large number of security forces have been deployed at the ghats, said SP.
