Jammu: Over 61 per cent of the polling was recorded in Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency, where highest 71 per cent voting was registered in Reasi district of the constituency. The polling will decide the fate of Congress leader and Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is in a direct contest with BJP`s Jintender Singh.

As many as 61.15 per cent of the polling was recorded in Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency till 3 PM, a senior official of Jammu and Kashmir Election department said here today. There has been boycott at 2 polling stations in Bani Assembly segment of Kathua district due to a local demand, apart from halt of polling for some time due to fault developed in some EVMs in Kishtwar, he said. "There was no report of any untoward incident from anywhere in the constituency," he said adding that polling was going on smoothly. In Reasi district of the constituency, polling station Lodhra in Arnas belt recorded 100 per cent polling, the official said. As many as 14,61,373 voters, including 7,77,599 males and 6,77,850 women will decide the fate of 13 candidates, including Arshad Malik of PDP, Dharam Pal Balgotra of BSP and Bhim Singh of JKNPP at over 2,015 polling stations, 108 of them hyper sensitive. The Udhampur parliamentary constituency, with headquarters at Kathua, comprises six districts ? Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Udhampur, Reasi and Kathua. Reasi has recorded highest polling of 71 per cent, followed by Kathua with 63.71 per cent, Udhampur with 59.19 per cent, Kishtwar 58.66 per cent, Ramban with 58.14 and Doda with 56.24 per cent at 3 PM.
