Lok Sabha polls: Varanasi will defeat Narendra Modi, says Arvind Kejriwal

In a bid to woo approximately 1.6 million voters of the holy city, Aam Aadmi Party`s convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday left for Varanasi to campaign in his Lok Sabha constituency.

New Delhi: In a bid to woo approximately 1.6 million voters of the holy city, Aam Aadmi Party`s convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday left for Varanasi to campaign in his Lok Sabha constituency.

He is taking on Bharatiya Janata Party`s (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi here. He expressed confidence that Varanasi would defeat Modi and Amethi would defeat Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.

Kejriwal posted on the micro-blogging site Twitter that his parents were going along with him in order to give their blessings. His wife will join him later.

The former Delhi chief minister also made an appeal to the people to pray for him and to join his campaign in the city.

Kejriwal boarded the Shiv Ganga Express along with his parents and some party supporters. He will reach the Hindu holy city Tuesday morning.

He is expected to camp in Varanasi, in Uttar Pradesh, until the constituency goes to polls May 12, the last day of the 10-phase Lok Sabha election.

Moreover, other senior AAP leaders Manish Sisodiya and Sanjay Singh have already reached in the city.

April 24 is the last date for filing nomination in Varanasi. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is April 28.

Besides Varanasi, the AAP chief will also visit Amethi to campaign for colleague Kumar Vishwas, who is pitted against Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi.
