As many as 5,098 Kashmiri Pandits will exercise their right to franchise for Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency outside Kashmir.

Jammu: As many as 5,098 Kashmiri Pandits will exercise their right to franchise for Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency outside Kashmir.

"As many as 5,098 voters will exercise their right to franchise out of the total 36,015 KP voters for Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, which goes to polls on April 30," Assistant Returning Officer (ARO), Sachan Dev Singh told reporters here today.

There are a total of 36,015 KPs voters registered for Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, he said, adding that election authority had received 1,888 M-forms, out of which 209 have been rejected for various reasons including deletion of names.

As many as 1,679 M-forms have been accepted and these M-forms contain 5,098 eligible voters, Singh said.

Over 12 lakh voters will decide the fate of candidates including Union Minister and NC chief Dr Farooq Abdullah and former state finance minister and PDP candidate Tariq Hamid Qarra on April 30.

As per the notification of Election Commission of India, 18 special polling stations have been set up for KP migrant voters in Jammu, Udhampur and Delhi for voting. Among these, 13 are in Jammu, 4 are in Delhi and one in Udhampur.
