New Delhi: After campaigning for brother Rahul Gandhi and mother Sonia Gandhi in Amethi and Rae Bareli, Priyanka Gandhi is likely to make a strong political pitch against BJP`s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in Varanasi.

Although rumours are doing the rounds that she will visit the holy city before May 12, there is no confirmation on her visit from the Congress as yet.

Varanasi is one of the two constituencies from where Modi is contesting Lok Sabha elections. The other one is Vadodra in Gujarat.

Besides Congress` candidate Ajai Rai, Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal has also challenged Modi in Varanasi.

During a rally in Amethi on Monday, Modi had accused Gandhi family of being arrogant and power drunk. However, his accusation didn`t go well with Priyanka who later retaliated, saying that people of Amethi will not forgive the main opposition for insulting her late father.

“Each and every booth of Amethi will give a befitting reply to BJP`s petty politics,” Priyanka said.

Earlier, Modi`s interview with Doordarshan had stirred up a controversy wherein the Gujarat CM had allegedly called Priyanka like his daughter.
