Voter disillusioned with TMC in West Bengal: Jaitley
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Saturday said there has been a `voter disillusion` with the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, and added that after Uttar Pradesh, there will be a substantial rise in BJP`s voteshare in Bengal.
Varanasi: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Saturday said there has been a `voter disillusion` with the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, and added that after Uttar Pradesh, there will be a substantial rise in BJP`s voteshare in Bengal.
"There was an environment which was prevailing in West Bengal against the Left regarding the issues of governance and development. The result was that the TMC got vote because of this and became victorious in the assembly polls. But looking at the rule of the TMC government, there has been a voter disillusion," said Jaitley.
"In this election, the BJP will bag a big share of votes. I think after UP, in West Bengal we will see the highest rise in vote share for the BJP," he added.
He also emphasized that it is pretty evident from looking at the daily attacks by TMC chief Mamata Banerjee on BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi that a huge chunk of vote share in West Bengal has been bagged by the BJP.
Jaitley was responding to Mamata`s comment that she would have sent `Narendra Modi to jail by tying a rope around his waist` if her party was in power at the Centre.
Addressing a rally on Friday, Mamata also said that the Congress is a `party cocooned in fear` and has no guts to act against the BJP.
"The Congress has no guts. It is a party cocooned in fear. They survive through understanding and play got-up matches and indulge in match-fixing. Not a single word against Narendra Modi," she said.
She also said that the Congress party is in head over heels in love with Narendra Modi.
