Vadodara: Addressing his first public rally here after the the people of India voted overwhelmingly in favour BJP-led NDA government, a jubilant Narendra Modi said on Friday that he would spend every second of his life to working for the people.

With the crowds chanting his name, BJP`s prime ministerial candidate told them, “Good days are coming.”

He also said that inspite of not spending any time in Vadodara, the people had given him more than five lakhs votes and made him victorious. “I am indebted to the people of Vadodara. Every voter here worked like Narendra Modi . I salute you,” he said.
Talking about not being able to campaign in Varanasi, Modi said, “Probably in the history of India for the first time any candidate did not get opportunity to interact with his people in his constituency.”

Modi contested from two seats – Vadodara and Varanasi. Modi could not hold a rally in Varanasi as the administration there said that there may be security concerns. Modi has won from Varanasi too defeating Congress` Ajay Rai and AAP`s Arvind Kejriwal.

Talking of the clear majority that the BJP was given by the people of the country – the first time after 1984 – Modi said, “Most of the governments in Delhi was of Congress party or Congress-led or a coalition of parties. In India after independence for the first time a non-Congress party has come to power which has got majority on its own and which has won fighting the ideologies of the Congress party.”

Modi added, “We were not fortunate enough to fight during the freedom struggle but in independent India we have to live for the country and contribute in its governance.”

To the people he said, “You have faith in me and I have faith in you. Your faith gives me confidence to fulfil your dreams. The people of the country have given their verdict. This verdict tells us that we have to take the country forward.” He also thanked the people of the country for giving the NDA more than 300 seats.
Modi also said that he was mazdoor (worker) `number one`. “Even my opponents accept that I am a hard worker. Every atom in my body and every second of my life is dedicated to you,” he said, adding, “We will take everyone along even if they are our opponents. To run the government we have to take everyone along.”

"In a democracy, there are no enemies but only competitors. That competition ends with elections," he said, adding his motto is "sabka sath, sabka vikas (with all, development for all).”
