BJP MLA Dayanand Sopte quits party

BJP legislator Dayanand Sopte today resigned from the party and his membership in the Goa Legislative assembly.

Sopte, who submitted his resignation to Speaker
Pratapsingh Rane is expected to join Congress party later in
the day.

He is the second BJP legislator to resign as a MLA
taking down the party`s strength to 12 in the House.

A fortnight ago, Bicholim legislator Rajesh Patnekar had
tendered his resignation.

Sopte was representing Pernem assembly seat and was
given charge as the election campaign manager for North Goa.

The legislator met Rane at 10.30 am in the assembly
complex and submitted his resignation.
