Centenary celebrations of Army`s Corps of Signals held in Goa
The celebrations held at the 2 Signal Training Headquarter had a sequence by Corps of Signal`s Daredevil team, that had entered the Guinness Book of World Records by having 201 men on 10 motorcycles in July 2001.
Panaji: The centenary celebrations of the Indian Army`s Corps of Signal department was held on Tuesday with mind-boggling performances from the Army Skydiving team, Corps of Signals Display teams, military band and others.
The celebrations held at the 2 Signal Training Headquarter in Bambolim village near here had a breathtaking sequence by Corps of Signal`s Daredevil team, that had entered the Guinness Book of World Records by having 201 men on 10 motorcycles in July 2001.
The function, also attended by Goa Chief Minister
Digamber Kamat, had a 15-minute long drill without command
followed by skydiving under the leadership of Lt Col S Verma
of Corps of Signals.
The Sarang Helicopter Display team, one of the only two
military helicopter display teams in the world after Blue
Eagles of British Army, displayed aerial formations. Advance
light helicopters showcased the beauty and grace of a peacock
during its display.
Kalaripayattu, an ancient martial art of southern India,
Taekwando, a Korean martial art, was also performed during the
two hour long show.
The celebrations also had a band display by the Corps of
Signals` band and Corps of Engineers` band.
These two bands have been part of Royal Army and were
raised during the regime of Marathas and Tipu Sultan
