Panaji: The Congress on Friday came out in full support of Goa Home Minister Ravi Naik, who is facing severe flak after a series of drug-nexus cases kept coming to light in the tourist state.

All India Congress Committee General Secretary BK Hariprasad, who was here to participate in the general body of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee, denied the possibility of withdrawing the Home portfolio from Naik, who has been at the receiving end for failure to control law and order situation in the state.

"There is no information with me that there is any change in portfolio," Hariprasad told reporters here after Goa Congress legislative party resolved to strip off Naik of his portfolio and hand it over to Chief Minister Digambar Kamat.

He advised members to desist from publicly demanding change in portfolios and action against anyone can be taken only if there is a specific report against them.

"The Home Ministry is a very sensitive issue " he said. Responding to a question related to alleged involvement of Home Minister's son, Roy in the drug nexus, the Congress leader said that there is no proof against him.

You show us specific case and we will act against anyone who is involved, Hariprasad said.

Responding to a question, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said the state has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) which will investigate into the drug nexus issue.
