Panaji: Even as Goa Branch is probing charges against six police officials for their alleged links with drug peddlers, the state DGP Friday said "drugs are non-existent" in the tourist hot spot.

"We have practised a no tolerance attitude towards narcotic trade which has helped us fetch big drug dealers. I can say with all the confidence that drugs are virtually non- existent in the state," DGP B S Bassi told reporters.

Interestingly, a month back the state police had stumbled upon a video clip on Internet which showed an Israeli drug dealer identified as Atala narrating how drugs from Anti Narcotic Cell's lockers are pushed into the market by its officers themselves.

The investigations into the tape had led to arrest of five policemen, including a police inspector.
