Panaji: Four-day long Carnival
festivities in Goa, an annual event that is a major tourist
attraction, will begin on March 5, officials said on Friday.

In Panaji, a committee under chairmanship of Mayor
Caroline Po has been formed to organise Carnival float parade,
the main attraction of the festival.

Float parades are held in Goa`s major cities. The main
float for the parade is led by King Momo, a mythological
character, who it is believed, rules the state for three days.
A local dignitary is selected as King Momo to lead the
colourful parade.

The Mayor said preparations for the carnival are going
on in full swing.
