Panaji: Goa off shore casino operators today said they were reconsidering their petitions filed against the state government after the recent cabinet decision not to shift casino vessels away from Mandovi river.

The lawyers, representing casino operators, made the submission before Goa bench of Bombay High Court that they intend to withdraw the petitions contesting state government's order.

The state cabinet had in February 2009 had decided to shift all the seven casino vessels away from Mandovi River after protests from civil groups and opposition BJP.

The cabinet, last week, decided to relocate the casinos within the Mandovi river basin deviating from its earlier stand to shift them to Aguada Bay.

The division bench comprising Justice D G Karnik and Justice F M Reis told the lawyers that whoever wanted to continue with the case can do it.

The bench gave time till tomorrow to the casino operators to decide on the petition or else the hearing would continue from Monday.
