Panaji: Goa Government`s flip-flop stand on
Sanatan Saunstha, under police lens for Diwali-eve bomb blast
in Margao, continued on Friday as Chief Minister Digamber Kamat
declined to support the contention of his own media advisor
about the right-wing group.

A day after government spokesmen Vishnu Wagh termed the
literature by the Saunstha as "those breeding terrorists" and
the organisaiton as fostering "divisive forces", Kamat feigned
innocence about any such statement.
"I don`t know...I have not read it till now. I don`t know
what he (Wagh) said," Kamat told reporters at his official
residence here during a press conference.

The CM said he would react only after checking "what Wagh
has said" in the press conference on Thursday.

While the Chief Minister had earlier ruled out banning
the Saunstha at this juncture, Wagh, in his press conference,
had hinted at proscribing the religious outfit after
investigations are over.

"We (government) are monitoring the activities of Sanatan
Saunstha. Its literature can breed terrorism and if the
institution continues its divisive agenda then it will have to
face the ban," Wagh had told reporters.
Wagh, who is also the Officer on Special Duty to
Information and Publicity Department, had claimed he was
addressing the press meet on behalf of the Chief Minister.

The government spokesman had said the group has nothing
to fear if it has done no wrong. "If they are really a
spiritual organisation than they should not fear any kind of
investigation," he had said.

Two of the group`s seekers, Malgonda Patil and Yogesh
Naik, were killed in the October 16 blast. While police have
said the two were killed when the explosives they were
carrying in a scooter went off, the Saunstha has termed their
death as "murder".

The group has denied any role in the blast and claimed
explosives were planted in the scooter.
