Goa Congress leaders told to toe party line

Ahead of Assembly polls scheduled next year, Congress in Goa issued an `advisory` asking its leaders to refrain from criticising party leaders and the state government in public.

Panaji: Ahead of Assembly polls scheduled
next year, Congress in Goa issued an `advisory` asking its
leaders to refrain from criticising party leaders and the
state government in public.

"Events in the past and even in the current scenario;
how politicians are conducting themselves is a matter of
serious concern. We will come out with more disciplined party
line," All India Congress Committee`s Goa desk in-charge
Jagmeet Singh Brar told media persons on Friday.

The `advisory` came in the background of some senior
Congress leaders highlighting intra-party affairs in public.

Brar asked the leaders to air their grievances, if
any, either to chief minister or state unit president.

Prominent leaders like deputy Speaker Mauvin Godinho
and former law minister Dayanand Narvekar recently went public
against functioning of the Digambar Kamat government.

The aspersions cast by the leaders against functioning
of the state government during the ongoing Assembly session
were even aired by some local cable channels across the state,
embarrassing the party top brass.

Over strategy to be adopted by the party in the
forthcoming polls, Brar said that Congress has the necessary
"wits" to contest in all 40 constituencies of the state.

He termed it "hypothetical" when asked whether the
Congress will snap ties with its coalition partner Nationalist
Congress Party (NCP) in Goa.
