Panaji: In a major decision, Goa government has decided to make helmets compulsory for both rider and pillion rider in next two weeks to curb road accidents in the state.

Transport Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar told the State Legislative Assembly last night that one life is lost on road in an accident every day.

He said that the state government has already taken a decision to make helmets compulsory for both rider and pillion rider within next two weeks.

Goa currently enforces helmet compulsion for two-wheelers only on highways. Within city, the helmet is not compulsory.
