Panaji: Goa Lokayukta Justice B Sudarshan Reddy has tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told reporters on Thursday that the Goa government has accepted the resignation of Justice Reddy.
Official sources said Reddy had resigned some days back as he wanted to devote time and attention to his ailing wife. The resignation was accepted by the government on Wednesday.
Reddy was appointed Goa`s first Lokayukta in March last year.
In September, two Goa government departments which had made recruitments by the hundreds before the 2012 Assembly Elections were issued notice by the state Lokayukta.
Justice Reddy had asked the Goa Medical College and the state health department to explain the process followed in the hiring drive.
Also last month, the YSR Congress had lodged a complaint with the Nellore IV Town police station against Justice Reddy for his alleged derogatory comments over the Seemandhra agitation at the All India Telangana Writers Forum (AITWF).
Speaking outside the police station, Nellore rural party incharge Kotam Reddy Sridhar Reddy, who lodged the complaint, had said that Reddy threatened the Seemandra people with Mahabharata-like bitter experiences if they go ahead with the Samaikyandhra movement.
