Goa: man arrested for allegedly raping minor niece

Panaji: Goa police On Saturday arrested a 49-year-old man for raping his minor niece nearly four months ago.

The accused, whose name was not revealed to guard the 15-year-old victim`s identity, raped her in mid-November at his house in Calapur village near here.

Later, according to the complaint, he threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it.

The offence came to light only yesterday when the
victim`s friend informed the police.

Officers of Old Goa police station arrested the uncle, who works in Panaji city. According to the police, the girl had spoken with the accuser’s wife, her aunt, about the incident, but the latter kept mum.

The girl studies at a school meant for the orphans and those from the poor backgrounds.
