Panaji: Goa police, investigating the death of a French Naval officer at a swimming pool in Anjuna village, have booked the management of the resort for not taking adequate precaution at the pool, a top official said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sammy Tavares said that Orlati Vincent David (25) was found at the bottom of the pool, 9 feet deep on Tuesday.

The Naval officer was part of 11 member group from a French warship on a visit to Goa for recreation.

Tavares said that the hotel management has been booked for not taking adequate precaution at the swimming pool.

Police have also found that the hotel was serving liquor beyond stipulated hours.

The initial investigations have revealed that David was in an inebriated state when he drowned.
