Panaji: Goa Police on Monday said they have
not been able to establish the motive behind the Diwali-eve
bomb blast in Margao, which killed two persons linked to
right-wing group Sanatan Sanstha.
"The investigation in the blast has revealed that it
was a large-scale conspiracy against the state but we have not
been able to establish the motive behind it," Superintendent
of Police Atmaram Deshpande told reporters here this evening.
The blast and explosives detected and defused at
Sancoale near here were part of the same conspiracy, he said.
Special Investigation Team (SIT) had on Saturday
arrested Vinayak Patil and Vinay Talekar for allegedly
planting bomb at Sancoale.
Malgonda Patil and Yogesh Naik were killed in the
blast when the explosives they were allegedly ferrying in a
scooter went off on October 16, police had said.
The duo, affiliated with the Goa-headquartered
religious outfit, had been named accused in the blast case.
The Sanstha has denied any role in the blast and described the
death of the duo as "murder".
Deshpande said the investigation into the blast is
proceeding fast and entire Goa Police is assisting the SIT.
