HC rejects bail plea of Goa drug peddler

The Goa Bench of Bombay High Court on Tuesday rejected bail petition filed by Israeli drug dealer David Driham alias Dudu, who had sought bail citing various anomalies adopted in the procedure of his arrest.

Panaji: The Goa Bench of Bombay High Court on Tuesday rejected bail petition filed by Israeli drug dealer David
Driham alias Dudu, who had sought bail citing various
anomalies adopted in the procedure of his arrest.

Justice U D Salvi rejected the bail plea dismissing the
contention of technical procedural lapses cited by Driham`s
lawyer.

Carlose Fereira, representing the state, said that
various omissions cited by the applicant pleading for the bail
could be discussed during the trial stage.

He said that the accused was arrested with cocktail of
drugs, which shows that he is a drug peddler.

Dudu (34) was arrested on February 21, 2010 at Anjuna by
anti-narcotic cell (ANC) police when he arrived in his car
carrying contrabands.

The alleged drug dealer, who is currently lodged in
central jail at Aguada, had said that the letter written by
investigating officer Sunil Gudlar to Deputy Superintendent of
Police informing about the raid is fabricated.

"The covering letter addressed to DSP has such a wealth
of factual material added therein that it could only have been
created subsequent to the accused being apprehended," the
petition filed before the High Court reads.

He said that very basis of the raid has also been
fabricated.
