Panaji: Taking a cue from its alliance
partner Congress which was trounced in the Goa Assembly polls,
the NCP too has asked its defeated contestants to prepare a
report on the drubbing the party has received at the hustings.

The directive came close on the heels of the Congress
asking its party members for a similar "fact-finding" report
on the poll debacle.

NCP Goa spokesman Avinash Bhosle told that all the
seven candidates have been asked to give in detail the reasons
for their defeat.

NCP which had fielded seven candidates--three of whom
had joined the party during polls--drew a blank failing to
retain Thivim and Vasco constituencies it represented in the
previous Assembly.

The reports would be compiled together and presented
before the party high command, Bhosale said.

Local NCP leaders have already sent an interim report
to the top brass which has apparently blamed Congress for the
humiliating defeat.

Both Yuri Alemao, son of former urban development
minister Joaquim Alemao and former BJP leader Ashish
Shirodkar, who had contested from Sanguem and Mapusa
constituencies respectively, lost to BJP candidates.

Ministers Jose Philip D`Souza (Vasco) and Nilkant
Halarnkar (Thivim) were also humbled on their home turf by the
resurgent BJP which emerged as the single largest party to
form government.
