Panaji: One person was seriously injured in a scuffle with forest guards at Goa`s Bondla Wildlife sanctuary, when he along with his family was not allowed entry there, police said on Saturday.
According to forest department officials the person who had arrived at the gate of the sanctuary along with his wife and minor son was not permitted to enter because visitors are not allowed on Thursdays.
Both family of the injured and forest department have filed police complaint at Ponda police station.
The family also alleged that forest officials tried to outrage modesty of injured man`s wife Fransisca.
She complained that her husband fell down in the concrete drainage sustaining grievous injuries after being allegedly pushed by the forest guards. He has been admitted to a private hospital here.
In a complaint to the police, it was stated that the guards also used filthy language and outraged modesty of the women during the arguments.
Range Forest Officer VK Chodankar, incharge of Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, has also lodged a complaint against the family for trying to trespass into the wildlife sanctuary on weekly closing day.
The forest department claimed that the family did not allow its personnel to conduct the lawful duties.
Bondla wildlife sanctuary is state`s smallest sanctuary, which has a zoo in it.
