As per the data tabled on the floor of the house during
the ongoing Assembly session, 13 Nigerians were amongst 36
foreigners who were arrested last calendar year for illegally
overstaying in the state.
State Home Minister Ravi Naik said all the foreigners
were subsequently ordered to leave the country.
The record indicates that Russians are the second largest
number of foreigners to be arrested for overstaying.
A total of eight Russians were arrested last year.
Other nationals including Italians, Latvians, Iranians,
Germans, Israeli and Portuguese nationals were also deported
to their home country last year.
Panaji: Nigerians top the list of foreign
nationals who were found overstaying in Goa during last one
year, the State Legislative Assembly was informed Wednesday.
