Panaji: Former Goa Tourism Minister
Fransisco Mickey Pacheco will take a final call on whether to
surrender before Crime Branch or move to Supreme Court
tomorrow, his lawyer said.
"We have received the certified copy of order passed by
Panaji Bench of Bombay High court rejecting his anticipatory
bail. We are examining it before taking the next step," Amit
Palekar, lawyer representing Pacheco and his aide Lyndon
Monteiro, told PTI tonight.
Pacheco and Monteiro are on the run after Crime Branch
accused them of being involved in the death of 28-year-old
woman Nadia Torrado, who died after allegedly consuming poison
on May 30.
Pacheco has been accused of culpable homicide while his
then officer on special duty Monteiro allegedly destroyed
evidence in the case.
The duo are left with only two options either to move to
the Apex court or surrender before the Crime Branch as both
the lower court and the High Court have rejected their
anticipatory bail pleas.
"Whatever may be the decision, it will be taken tomorrow
for sure," Palekar said.
Meanwhile, police launched a search for Pacheco and
Monteiro and tightened security amidst rumours of the duo
