Panaji: The Congress in Goa has decided to allow BJP Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to complete 100 days of this tenure before commenting on his capability to govern the state.
"The Congress is not weak as an Opposition as projected in the media. We have been in Opposition in the past and know our responsibilities," Leader of Opposition Pratapsingh Rane told reporters emerging from the first ever Congress legislative party meeting for the current tenure.
Rane said the party will allow Parrikar to perform for 100 days before judging his ability to govern the state.
We will should not be commenting on anything till he is given chance to perform, he added.
The Congress was left with only 9 legislators in the Assembly following a humiliating defeat, the reasons for which are being investigated by the high command.
The CLP, said Rane, today discussed about the forthcoming panchayat elections, slated on May 19. The members felt that there is lot of resentment amongst people due to erred delimitation process.
"The State election commission should have looked into this delimitation process," Rane said, adding that large section of people are unhappy with the delimitation process.
Several wards were wrongly delimited during the recent delimitation process by the state panchayat ministry.
The government has said that they will inquire into the goof ups in the delimitation to ascertain whether they were purposely done or left by mistake.
