Panaji: Goa BJP legislator Rajesh Patnekar,
who resigned as a member of legislative assembly, would join
Congress on September 23.
The legislator, who resigned from Bicholim constituency
seat, said that his entry into Congress has been finalised.
"I will file the membership form on September 23," he
Patnekar had resigned as an MLA and left the party on
September 12 saying that he wants to develop his constituency.
He said the constituency was lagging behind in development as
he was not part of the Congress party.
Goa Congress Chief Subhash Shirodkar, however, had
refused that there were any assurances given to Patnekar.
His resignation has fuelled speculations that few more
BJP legislators are likely to join Congress in the run up to
the forthcoming assembly elections in Goa.
However, BJP Goa unit Chief Laxmikant Parsekar had ruled

With the exit of Patnekar, BJP is left with only 13
legislators in the 40-seat legislative assembly, including 20
from Congress, three from NCP, two from Maharashtrawadi
Gomantak Party (MGP) and one independent.
