Panaji: A shack owner deposing before a
juvenile court in the Scarlet Keeling case on Friday said he was
approached by Fiona Mackeown, the victim`s mother, enquiring
about her daughter a day after her body was found on the sea
shore.
Agnelo Lopes, the shack owner, said Fiona had approached
him on February 19 enquiring whether he knew anything about
her daughter, whose bruised semi-nude corpse was found on
Anjuna beach on February 18, 2008 near his shack.

"On February 19, 2008, the mother of Scarlet came to my
shack at around 10 am and asked me whether I know anything
about her daughter," Lopes told the court.

He said Fiona introduced herself as Scarlet`s mother. "I
told her I did not know anything about Scarlet. I was told
about Scarlet`s name by her mother on that day," he added.
Lopes also told the court that he informed Anjuna police
station about the body lying on the beach front.

He deposed that he saw the body early in the morning
after he was told about it by a shack waiter.
