Panaji: British mother Fiona Mackeown today said she is in the process of gathering evidence, which were not considered by investigating agencies in the chargesheet, in the case relating to the killing of her daughter Scarlett on a beach here.

"It is clear that CBI has been restricted after considerable amount of evidence was destroyed. However, it is also unfortunate that some of the evidence still available has not been acted on," Fiona, 46, told PTI, this evening.

The British mother, who was here to depose in a court in Scarlett death trial, said she herself will be gathering some evidence in this case.

Fiona will be leaving for the UK tomorrow as her cross examination in Goa Children's court (GCC) ended this week. "If even CBI cannot be a deterrent to the criminals, then perhaps there is no hope," she said.

Scarlett's battered body was found on Anjuna shore on February 18, 2008, following and two locals Samson D'Souza and Placido Carvalho, were arrested by Goa Police.

The case was later handed over to CBI.

Fiona said there are a "few loose ends" that need to be probed to get to the core of what exactly unfolded on the fateful night when her daughter was killed.
