Panaji: Days after he was quizzed by police
in connection with the death of his "close" female friend,
former Goa tourism minister Fransisco Pacheco Tuesday applied
for anticipatory bail.

The 46-year-old NCP legislator, who is untraceable ever
since he resigned from the Cabinet on June 5 after his name
cropped up in the death case, moved the bail application in
the Sessions Court here through his lawyer.

28-year-old Nadia Torrado died on May 30 at Chennai after
allegedly consuming rat poison. Pacheco was questioned by
crime branch on June 4 after women organisations alleged his
involvement in the death.

The former minister has denied the charge.
