West Virginia (USA): Jeev Milkha Singh
carded a flawless three-under 67 to be tied 25th while Arjun
Atwal's topsy-turvy two-under 68 had him tied 39th after the
opening round of the Greenbrier Classic golf tournament here.
All of Jeev's three birdies came in the front nine.
The seasoned Chandigarh-pro picked up shots on the
second, fourth and ninth holes and parred his entire back-nine
to round off a steady performance.
Atwal, in contrast, endured a tumultuous day. Ater making
a bogey-birdie start, Atwal gained a stroke on the fourth.
A bogey on the seventh and a birdie on the very next hole
had the Orlando-based Indian one-under at the end of his
front-nine.
On his way way back, Atwal managed a couple of birdies
against a bogey to be two-under after the first round of the
The Old White Course.
At the top, the American duo of Erik Campton and Matt
Every were tied for the lead after carding identical
seven-under 67s.
