Lahiri tied second after Rd 1 of Worldwide Holdings Selangor Petaling Jaya: A topsy-turvy card of two-under 69 helped Anirban Lahiri grab a share of the second spot after the opening round of Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters golf tournament here on Wednesday.

The Kolkata golfer sank four birdies, two bogeys, an eagle and a double bogey to lie three shots adrift of leader Airil Rizman of Malaysian, who fired a five-under 66 at the challenging Seri Selangor Golf Club here.

Lahiri was off the block with a birdie but a bogey on the fourth pulled him back before the Indian dropped an eagle on the next and picked up another birdie at the eighth hole to make the turn at three-under.

On resumption, he birdied the 10th and 13th holes but a bogey at the 12th and a double bogey at the 16th dented his hopes of a better performance.

Among other Indians in fray, Rahil Gangjee carded level-par 71 to lie tied 14th, while Naman Dawar turned in 72 to take the tied 27th spot.

Gaganjeet Bhullar, who finished fourth in last week's Brunei Open, and senior pro Gaurav Ghei carded an identical two-over 73 to lie tied 40.

However, as many as nine Indians stared at the prospect of missing the cut after having a bad day in office.

Gaurav Singh and C Muniyappa carded matching four-over 75 to be tied 69th, while one stroke behind were the troika of Digvijay Singh, Mandeo Pathania and Gurki Shergill.

Among others, Vikrant Chopra (76), Firoz Ali (78), Amandeep Johl (79) and Himmat Rai (80) languished at the bottom half of the leaderboard.
