Yangon: Himmat Rai signed off with a sedate two-under 70 to join compatriot Anirban Lahiri at the 12th place as none of the Indians could manage a top 10 finish in the USD 300,000 Myanmar Open golf tournament here on Sunday.
The seventh hole eagle was the highlight of Rai’s final round, which featured three birdies and as many bogeys, as the Indian finished with an aggregate of eight-under 280, which earned him USD 4,181.
In contrast, Lahiri’s round included four birdies and as many bogeys.
Digvijay Singh turned in the best round of the day by an Indian, carding five-under 67 to finish tied 43rd at three-under 285.
Digvijay had a bogey-free front nine with four birdies in it and he picked up one more shot to join Gaganjeet Bhullar at tied 43rd.
Bhullar carded one-over 73 in his final round.
Kolkata pro Rahil Gangjee (287) finished with a four-under 68 to finish tied 51st, three shots ahead of compatriot Firoz Ali who came tied 59th.
Gaurav Pratap Singh (291), who had began the event with so much of promise, eventually finished a lowly tied 61st after rounds of 67, 70, 76 and 78.
C Muniyappa (294) came tied 65th after going three-over in his final round.
Japan’s Tetsuji Hiratsuka (264) claimed his maiden Asian Tour title with an emphatic 10-stroke victory after a brilliant final round six-under 66.
