World PGA Alliance launched at Hazeltine London: A World PGA Alliance was launched to bring together under one umbrella Professional Golf Associations from countries such as the United States, Britain, Japan and Australia.

The new body will represent more than 56,000 PGA professionals and 22,000 PGA member golf facilities to help develop teaching, playing and educational standards along with player development.

"It is a significant commitment to growing this great sport on a worldwide basis," PGA of America president Jim Remy told a news conference on the eve of this week's US PGA Championship at Hazeltine National.

"The alliance will be comprised of the PGAs of the United States, Australia, our friends from the north in Canada, Europe, Germany, Japan, South Africa, Sweden, Great Britain and Ireland.”

"This alliance is being formed to establish and guide teaching, playing and educational standards for the golf profession ... and more importantly share best practices and player development for adults and youths."
