Govt to install laser walls at Indo-Pak border to check infiltration

Gurdaspur: The government is planning to install high-tech laser walls and other advanced systems at the India-Pakistan border to check infiltration from across the border, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said here on Sunday.

The work in this regard will be completed in a year, he added.

He made the announcement during a visit to Qadian town in the district to pay tributes to Saheed Ram Parkash on his 25th martyrdom anniversary.

The "laser walls" will be monitored by Border Security Force (BSF) which guards the international border in J&K, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

He said a dozen "laser walls" have been already made operational along the International Border in Punjab.

The decision to install laser walls was taken by BSF two years ago, the minister said.
