10 arrested for violence in Gujarat

Ten persons have been arrested in connection with a clash between members of two communities at Rajpipla here, police said.

Narmada (Guj): Ten persons have been
arrested in connection with a clash between members of two
communities at Rajpipla here in which three persons, including
a policeman, were injured, police said on Monday.

The incident occurred late last night when two groups
came out on the road with sharp weapons following a dispute
over a petty matter, they said.
According to police, members of both groups pelted stones
at each other and broke glasses of vehicles parked on the
roads.

The mob also torched a couple of roadside shops, police
said, adding that the situation was brought under control by
firing tear gas shells and baton charging.
One assistant sub-inspector was injured in the stone
pelting, they said.

Ten persons, including members of both communities, have
been arrested and booked for rioting, arson and causing damage
to public property, police said.

Additional police personnel have been deployed at
Rajpipla as the situation is tense, they said, adding that
further investigations are on.
